May 2020 ED ROUNDUP
It's a crazy, unpredictable COVID-19 world

In any crisis, leaders must balance two equally essential responsibilities: solve the immediate problem and keep it from happening again. The COVID-19 pandemic is a case in point. The world medical community needs to save lives now while also improving the way we respond to outbreaks in general. The first keeps most of us up at night, and the latter has crucial long-term consequences. Seva's role in the eye-care ecosystem, over the past 40 years is to build the community trust and the world-class systems that may help in this emerging world scenario - especially for those most overlooked. What might this mean for our work moving forward? It is true, our staff, partners, and donors face uncertainty. It is also true that we face this uncertainty with the strength of our commitment to compassion in action.

I've become fond of saying this about Seva – we are the house that compassion built.

I hope you enjoy the blog, while it isn't the entire body of work your team and partners have been up to, it gives an idea of how hard we are working.

Keep Calm & Seva-on!

—Yours in Service, Kate Moynihan, Executive Director, Seva Foundation
